GARMIN, Official Navigation Sponsor of the MONGOLIA BIKE CHALENGE presented by ORBEA

Progetto Avventura Events, organizers of the Mongolia Bike Challenge, announced a new partnership with Garmin. Effective immediately, the GPS manufacturer is the new Official Navigation Sponsor of the Mongolia Bike Challenge which is presented by Orbea.

Since 1989, Garmin has been the leading, worldwide provider of navigation, communication and information devices and applications, most of which are enabled by GPS (Global Postioning System) technology. They offer handheld and cycling specific GPS units such as the new Garmin Edge 800.

The Mongolia Bike Challenge, now in its 3rd year, took 5 years of preparation, with weeks of GPS assisted scouting and exploring in the vast and undeveloped countryside of Mongolia.

Race Director, Willy Mulonia, is especially happy to have Garmin onboard: “The MBC would not exist without Garmin's GPS technology. I spent hours with our local guides and on my own, following GPS tracks, finding and recording new ones, and using this information as the basis of our race route. My Garmin 60 CX and I have been through a lot together so it’s really amazing to finally have Garmin as an official partner in the race now – because they have been there since the beginning.”

Willy Mulonia and his organizing team will be using Garmin Map 62 units in the field as well as the Forerunner 310 wrist units during the event. Athletes will be racing to win Garmin Edge 800 units which will be offered as prizes. Garmin’s products will enable racers and staff to take advantage of satellite navigation during the 10 days of the race.

GARMIN Offers New Registration Incentive - until March 31.

GARMIN, as the new Official Navigation Sponsors of the 2012 MBC, is offering a special registration incentive, giving away 2 Garmin Edge 800 units in a lucky draw.

All athletes who have registered for the 2012 Mongolia Bike Challenge before March 31, 2012, will have their name entered in the draw.

Winners will be announced on the MBC Facebook page and also contacted directly.

ORBEA ANNOUNCED AS NEW PRESENTING SPONSOR OF MONGOLIA BIKE CHALLENGE

Cercedilla, Spain, February 19, 2012

Orbea has just been announced as the new Presenting Sponsor of the Mongolia Bike Challenge. Last year Orbea signed on as the Official Sponsor of the MBC for three years but after the success of the 2011 edition the industry-leading, Spanish bicycle company decided to increase their level of support for the event.

The third edition of the Mongolia Bike Challenge presented by Orbea, will run from July 28 to August 11, 2012. The event is over 50% full with at least 19 countries to be represented.

MARZIO DEHO WILL RACE AT THE BC BIKE RACE AND THE MONGOLIA BIKE CHALLENGE

Marzio Deho, winner of the 2008 Trans Rockies and 2010 Mongolia Bike Challenge, will be racing at the BC Bike Race and defending his title at the Mongolia Bike Challenge this summer.

BC Bike Race, which takes place July 2-9, is entering its 5th year as an Epic Race and has established a solid reputation as a World Class event. Deho will be competing in the solo category at this year’s BCBR.

BC Bike Race’s Andreas Hestler commented on Deho’s appearance this year:
“Having competitors like Marzio Deho put us into his schedule means we have reached Global awareness. Marzio is an international caliber Marathon racer who will lift the level of competition at BCBR to a new height. We are super excited to host Marzio to the BCBR this year and know that he will have an amazing experience”.

Deho will then head across the Pacific where he will defend his title at the 2nd Edition of the Mongolia Bike Challenge. He will be racing for his team, Olympia, and be supported by MECWOR PRECISION

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Marzio back to Mongolia. He had an amazing performance last year and we are excited that the field will again be extremely competitive for our 2nd Edition”, commented Race Director, Willy Mulonia.

The organizing team at the Mongolia Bike Challenge, in collaboration with Official Sponsor, ORBEA, has decided to introduce a new word to our event: LUCK!

  Each participant registered in the MBC before June 30, 2011, will be entered in a contest to win one of two ORBEA ALMA 29er S50 bicycles.  

The Orbea Alma 29er incorporates all of the technology that has become the benchmark for bicycles in international competition.

Julien Absalon & Orbea Racing Team have achieved titles such as Gold at the Beijing Olympics, MTB World Cup, and MTB World Championships.

The final route preparation is done!

We have recently returned from Mongolia where we finished our final route preparation before the start of the 2011 Mongolia Bike Challenge.

today, October 1st, 2010 the registrations for 2011 edition of Mongolia Bike Challenge are finally open.

108 places are available for this second edition, and we have already received a lot of requests.

We have decided some changes on the route and you will see them soon on our website.

We have also added a new category: KHAN CATEGORY. Here will be located, regardless of age, all professional athletes who will decide to compete in the land of Chinggis Khan.

An exclusive trip in the land of the wind, between Chile and Argentina. 900 km divided into 12 stages during which we will admire some of the most impressive place in South America like the PERITO MORENO Glaciar or the TORRES DEL PAINE Nacional Park. ROBERTO HERAS WILL BE PRESENT ON THE MBC

ROBERTO HERAS LOOKING FOR A WIN AT THE 1ST EDITION OF MONGOLIA BIKE CHALLENGE

Roberto Heras Hernandez, born in Béjar Spain (02/01/1975), is the newest competitor in the Mongolia Bike Challenge 2010.  

Along with Marzio Deho, he will be the leading biker in the race. ...  The ex-professional road cyclist has just confirmed his presence to the first edition of the race that will take place on August 7 to 22 among the charming East Asian Steppes. 

These two champions will ensure a great pace to the race, giving us an exciting head-to-head competition at the Mongolia Bike Challenge.  

Roberto Heras, was a professional cyclist from 1997 to 2005 and in his cycling career he won three editions of the Vuelta of Spain.  

After winning the Vuelta in 2000, in 2001 he moved to the U.S. Postal Service Team and rode in three editions of the Tour de France as Lance Armstrong's teammate.  

In 2003 as captain of U.S. Postal he won the Vuelta in Spain.  

As a climber and experienced stage-race rider, he choose the MBC for it's technical characteristics and a fascination with our unique competition.  

The challenge between these two great Champions is set.........stay tuned!

Dear friends and dear athlets,

just 100 days remain to the big event.

From tomorrow the countdown will change from three to two digits!

After 5 long years, now more and more we feel the scent of the GREAT ADVENTURE.

Today part of the MBC team will fly to Mongolia to define the last touch and check that everything is ready. 100 days are not a long time... they will pass very fast.

The mongolian steppes, the lush rivers, the mountain passes the dunes of the Gobi and the eyes of thousand of children, women and mongolian men are always ready...

Those who will subscribe in the race will receive this STRATOS saddle made by SMP exclusively for the event.

Mirko Celestino at the Mongolia Bike Challenge

Confirmed another important presence at Mongolia Bike Challenge.
Mirko Celestino, 2009 Italian Marathon XC Champion, will take part in the first edition of the MBC.

Who knows if he will wear the World Champion jersey, since a few days before he will race the World Marathon Championship in Germany
